I had the opportunity to attend a 4 day pistol and carbine course by Ryan this year. Ryan is an excellent instructor that got down to business. There wasn’t lots of breaks and conversations. There was work put in with the breaks being the time to reload your magazines. If you are looking dor a course with a lot of shooting I would steer clear of this instructor. Ryan wasn’t just running you through training drills. He was also ensuring that we were taking away how we can appropriately and effectively guage ourselves and make measurable improvements after we the course was over. In 4 days with Ryan working pistol and carbine I left more confident than a week long course I have taken focusing on only a single platform.

I took a pistol and carbine course with Ryan and picked up several things that improved my accuracy and speed. There were tactics I had never been shown or thought about, specifically regarding reloads and rifle handling while moving, which I feel fortunate to have learned.
I also appreciated his emphasis on marksmanship and his one-on-one feedback for improvement.
He’s easy to understand and learn from and his course seemed to flow based on how the class performed and what we wanted to work on. Ryan offered many different “tools” and simply advised that I could take when I liked and leave what I didn’t.
Excellent instructor.

I attended a 4 day pistol/carbine class instructed by Ryan. I learned a lot and am more proficient in the use of my pistol and carbine because of attending Ryan’s course. Ryan is extremely humble, real, and is clearly a professional. Ryan is extremely easy to learn from, is a fantastic instructor, and has a lot to offer all skill levels. I hope to attend more classes instructed by Ryan in the future.

Lastly, I usually don’t go out of my way to write stupid reviews like this, but because Ryan asked, and because I enjoyed his class so much. I decided to make time to do it.

Ryan provides modern tactics that he has acquired through his long career. I love that he starts with the basics of functional gear setup, and then teaches practical and modern tactics. He does not teach that his ways are the only way, but a way. Hands down the pistol/carbine course he provides will make anybody a more efficient and better shooter.

Ive been through several of Ryan’s courses and always come away feeling impressed with how many lessons he can squeeze into a short class. He is humble beyond belief once you realize how well he can run a gun! You always leave wanting to work harder and put more work in to be a better teammate. Ryan is a phenomenal instructor and is always willing to take a call or answer questions anytime I’ve reached out. Additionally he stays current instead of teaching the same decades old lessons over and over. I would gladly sign up for any of his courses again as it’s impossible to absorb all retain all that info in just a few days.

Ryan is a skilled and knowledgable instructor. I enjoyed a refresher class with him prior to renewing my Montana CCW permit. I learned quite a bit from his classes. He comes from, and is obviously oriented toward, a Law Enforcement paradigm. IMHO the perspective of civilians pursuing armed self defense training is somewhat different from that of Law Enforcement in many important ways, although there is obviously a much larger common ground of shared tactical training and knowledge.

Ryan communicates well, and is obviously completely up-to-date in his knowledge and understanding of armed self defense techniques, equipment, training and tactics. He is quite competent as a shooter and seems well versed in other martial arts, although I have yet to explore un-armed self defense training with him. I strongly recommend him as an instructor, both for private tutorials and group training. As a direct result of my recent training sessions with him both my draw and accuracy have improved. I am also updating my weaponry and holsters, and changing my practice techniques.

Five Stars, (almost) all around. Keep up the great work, Ryan!

Ryan is an experienced instructor who can not only shoot well; but, understands how to teach and relay information. Ryan is humble and has diversified experiences, which will benefit both the beginner and advanced shooter. For this specific course, Ryan was able to tailor drills and instruction, on the fly, based on the skill level of the class; and, by soliciting feedback from students. I would highly recommend Ryan and Green Branch.

Ryan is an outstanding instructor, very intelligent and knowledgeable yet humble and easy to follow. Ryan provides the same high intensity and tactic based training that you can only get from higher profile figures like Pat McNamara for example. Great class, wry down to earth and is willing to give the student one on one help when and if needed. This was my first class and I hope to be lucky enough to train again with Ryan. Being a novice shooter and this being my first formal class I was unsure what to expect. I could not have been more pleased with the level of training and professionalism.

Ryan is a down and dirty, no BS instructor. He does not give Hollywood moves to a bunch of goones for a buck, he stays updated on current tactics and blends numerous trends to real life applications. Speaking from LE, he doesn’t train for spray and pray unaccountable actions, but gives insight on the best approach to modern strategies.

Went from being an average shooter who just qualified to being a confident shooter in both qualifications and tactical shooting. In just one week I transformed my entire mentality of shooting. Highly recommend any of the courses Ryan teaches and would love to attend more myself in the future. Ryan brings real life application and many experiences to his classes which enhances the course goals.
